It’s important to spend time outdoors and recharge your batteries. Here are some State Parks and points of interest that you can visit near Windham to help you relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

Bradbury Mountain State Park

One of the original five state parks and located 20 miles northeast of Windham, Bradbury Mountain State Park welcomes visitors year-round to view its foliage and explore its 800 acres of forested land and trails. Bradbury Mountain is the park’s greatest natural feature. Sculpted by a glacier, visitors are encouraged to climb the mountain and watch the hawks and eagles ride the thermals before migrating for the winter. Bring your dog or your horse! Sebago Lake State Park

One of the five original state parks and located just a half hour north of Windham, Sebago Lake State Park is situated against its namesake Sebago Lake—Maine’s second largest lake at 45 square miles. The forested lakeside park was opened to the public in 1938, and its 1,400 acres hold plenty of sandy beaches, woodlands, ponds, bogs, a river, and a variety of plant and animal life. The park boasts 250 camping sites, with showers and RV hookups. Click here for more information.

Ferry Beach State Park

About 40 minutes south of Windham and a perfect place for a picnic, Ferry Beach State Park offers a view of miles of white sand beaches between the Saco River and Pine Point. This 100-acre park also offers a peek at a stand of black gum (tupelo) trees, which are rare for the elevation. Before highways, a ferry crossing at the Saco River used to move from beach to beach, as beaches were safe and easy transportation routes before highways were so common. Hence, the name “Ferry Beach.” Click here for more info.
